Doggie Horlick Cookie

I found this recipe in the Sunday Times . created by
Thng Lay Teen. i found it really cute. Apart from it being easy to make, this recipe does not require egg and sugar (oredi got horlick, need wat sugar lagi). Egg is high in cholesterol de wor! too much sugar will cause diabetes oso =P

So i made this little cookie during the last chinese Valentine day as a gift for friends, which is also known as *Qi Xi "七夕". "七夕" this years fall on Monday, 31 July 2006.

*if ya duno wat is this Qi Xi , u can cek here:-

Of cos i made them on the day before which was a Sunday la.

My Cute little doggie cookies~
Cute or not? i dare u to say its not cute!!!

The Recipes are as follows:-

  • 180g butter (Golden Churn can butter)
  • 80g Horlicks
  • 100g chocolate chips
  • 200g top flour
  • 25g corn flour
  • 25g milk powder
  • One packet of Koko Krunch

  • Method

    1. Sieve top flour, corn flour and milk powder.
    2. Cream butter and Horlicks for about three minutes at low speed. Do not overbeat.
    3. Put in top flour, cornflour and milk powder and beat for about one minute to form dough.
    4. Divide dough into 10g each. Put three chocolate chips into each piece of dough and roll into balls.
    5. Insert two pieces of Koko Krunch to form the 'ears' and a chocolate chip in the centre for the 'nose'.
    6. Bake at 140 deg C for about 25 minutes. Leave to cool before storing in an airtight container.

Ingredients look Super easy le... the cookie is not too sweet. buttery texture de

    try it ~ XD

i found it quite hard to get fresh n nice looking chocolate chips. Some of those chips i found in da supermarket are whitetish n not dark colour de.. so i was bery happy when i found this bery black n fresh lookin chips at the Bunut Hua Ho Mall~

** Word of advise from experience ppl (me la)
u see we place a chip on the cookie as a nose right. when its freshly baked from da oven, the chips are not dry so we will of cos let is cool longer than usual time before putting them into da container. Careful not to let it cool too long cos the kokokrunch will masuk angin la!!!

    My Last Day of Holiday

Tomolo have to go to work already!!! sob T__T

    no more holiday liau la!

today i made sushi n muah chi...

    Here's my sushi bento:-

    My Sushi Bento~

overall, i like the taste but my cutting skill need more improvement lo

so what i do with the leftover rice? i made this!!!!~~

eh eh! i tell u, this is not fish ball ok.

this is onigiri! japanese rice ball in a tiny version.

i thought making bite sizes onigiri would be convenience for my family to eat ma
anyway, i just use all my left over rice, crab meat, egg pieces, mayonnaise n mix mix and roll them into a ball shape lo
of cos this idea was given by Patrina who learnt from her friend~ Thanksie Pat, my dad n mom love it!

It was about 12 pm like tat after i done with the sushi, i proceed with my Muah Chi making adventure.

This is the first time i made muah chi myself... i must say, at first, i was ready to give up. was so sasak because the cooked dough was sticky and really hard to handle.. Until my mom suggested to try n roll the 'hot n cooked' dough in the flour before trying to wrap it with peanuts. the first or second doesnt look great. but the rest looks ok after i get the hang of it. who said muah chi difficult to make one?! haha

The results arent so bad for a first time. My muah chi skin may be a bit too thin lo, i roll too much kali. But then the skin quite Q le!!. hehe. erm, i not yet taste it la, cause i ate too much sushi when i was making them... so quite full oredi. let my family be guinea pig~ hoho

    My Muah Chi~

Sze wei.. dun jeolous hor... hehe...

    First Attempt at Kek Batik

Having so many days of holiday n nothing to do at home... i had decided to make a kek batik today.
i got all the ingredients needed. Here's the recipe :-

    (A) 1/2 cup cocoa powder
    1 cup milo
    1 teaspoon coffee powder
    1 cup hot water
    (B) 1 tin condensed milk
    1 tin evaporated milk

    250g unsalted butter
1 packet of plain Marie biscuits (i forgot to check the weight, its a plastic red packet slightly smaller than an A4 size paper)
    1 1/2 cup nestum

    1. Melt the butter in a large saucepan. Take care not to brown or burn it.
    2. Add in (A) and (B) and mix well until there are no lumps.
    3. Mix in the nestum and bring the mixture to a boil.
    4. Leave to cool
    5. Break the biscuits to half and fold them into the mixture.
    6. Line a large cake tin with clingfilm
    7. Pour the mixture into the caketin and use a spoon to press it down
    8. Leave it in the fridge to set, the longer the better.
    9. Slice and serve
i wont take credit of cos... haha, i found it at this blog here :

But i am not sure whether the method of cooking dough is correct or not... i cooked the dough for more than 30 mins. it had become sticky but not gluey like as i thought.. so what the heck, i turned off the fire n started to add in the marie biscuit

after freezing it for like, 6 hrs or so. i took my kek out from the freezer. the taste is really yummy, however, the texture is soft, when i saw sze wei online, i quickly ask her what's da prob.
1st Q she ask me is, "how much flour did u put?" i was like "what flour?" cos i did not put an flour at all. o well, it actually doesnt look so bad de la.. just a bit soft. i will see what it looks like tomolo morning. if its still so soft ar. probably i will try add in some plain flour for my next attempt lo. but taste is really great. thanks to nestum!!!!

Anyway, today is first day of hari raya hor. so wishing all my malay frens selamat hari raya ya!

i oso went shopping with my mom n dad at Jaya this afternoon... really so quiet.. not many ppl shopping.. mostly onli chinese, then at bout 6 pm or so, like wah lau eh.. suddenly so many ppl one lo.

my day is bery fruitful lo, cooking pasta for lunch, made kek batik, wash & wax my car (ok washing part was done by my dad n i did the waxing onli). really happy to wax off all those scratches from my car door. hehe

tomolo is my last day holiday. want to make full use of it as well. want to make sushi and muah chi... n clean up my room if can~ XD
