Milo Agar Agar

note: The agar agar is supposed to be double layer

Found this recipe at Kitchen Capers. Generously posted up by the user Sliverfawn.

I had never made agar agar before. As i was grocery shopping at Supa Save last week, i found these cute nice looking jelly mould and decided to use the milo agar agar recipe to try it out.

Why everyone's agar agar looks so nice and the double layer stick together and Why mine can't?! Sigh

Ingredients:

Chocolate layer:-
8 gm agar agar strands
1 3/4 cups water
1/3 cup sugar
3/4 cup milo powder

Milk Layer:-
10 gm agar agar strands
1 1/2 cups water
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup Evaporated milk
a few drops of vanilla essence

Methods:-
For the 1st layer @ milo layers:
1. Cook agar agar with water till agar is dissolved in a low heat.
2. Add in sugar and milo. Stir till everything is dissolved, then strain
3. spoon mixture into prepared tin or into jelly moulds.
4. Allow to set, then lightly scratch surface with fork.

For the 2nd layer:
1. Cook agar in water till dissolved
2. Add sugar and stir till sugar is dissolved, strain
3. Add in evaporated milk and essence
4. Spoon mixture over the first layer and then chill in fridge.

note: If you want to use powder, don't use the same weight as the strands cause the results will turns out to be hard and rubbery (like mine =/ ) . And do remember to scratch the surface before pouring in the milk layer because if not, the layers won't stick. Like me, after finished pouring then remember =x

Hi, I stumbled accross your blog looking for those exact jelly moulds! A friend bought some a few years ago in Brunei, but I can't find them anywhere in Australia. Could you possibly tell me the brand name of them so I can track them down?

Thanks
